All our Chairs and Lamps are Handmade.

The woven chair tradition is part of a common experience in the sunny Caribbean countries. The tropical weather and the colorful landscape gives birth to a cheerful piece of furniture that can be at the same time practical and elegant, reflecting the spirit of the Caribbean people. Due to the easy going and life loving lifestyle of the inhabitants of these latitudes, the comfort factor is without a question a must.
Tucurinca’s mission is to revive traditional techniques imbued with a modern touch through the utilization of a wide variety of autochthonous materials such as Pvc rope, cotton rope, rotan, pure steel and banana leaves. The careful selection of premium materials make the designs suitable for both indoor and outdoor use, while at the same time assuring the highest levels of durability.

Care & Use
FRAMES
Most of our chairs are manufactured in powder-coated steel frames. Although our products are durable, the life of the finish will depend on the environmental conditions present where they are used. The Steel line can be used covered outdoor and should not remain in rain for long periods.
The structure should be dried with a cloth after exposure to rain and dust to reduce the chances of rust. In case of bumps or scratches, we recommend applying anti-corrosive paint as soon as possible in the damaged area.
WEAVES
Our chairs are woven in a wide range of materials, each with unique characteristics which makes it necessary to take care according to its type.
SYNTHETIC
The synthetic cord fabric is recommended for indoor and covered outdoor. To extend the life of the product we recommend protecting them from the sun using our covers or keeping it under shade when not in use. The cleaning of the fabric can be done with a damp cloth and subsequently the application of silicone with UV protection; Simoniz UV3 is recommended. In the case dust is trapped between the weave it is possible to perform a deep cleaning using a pressurized water gun.
NATURAL WICKER
Our wicker finishes are treated with transparent varnish. This product is recommended for indoors but can be used outdoors strictly under the roof, water and dampening will weaken the fabric. Pieces should also be protected from UV rays when not in use. Cleaning should be done with a dry cloth.
GUINEO FIBER AND CIENAGUERO CORD
Guineo fiber and Cienaguero cord are materials with a good mechanical resistance, however, due to its characteristics, it is recommended for indoor use only. Cleaning should be done with a dry cloth.
WOOD
Solid wood is a living material that will always be affected by the conditions of light, temperature and humidity. Regular maintenance increases the natural durability of the wood, we recommend occasionally using Refresh Eco by Rubio Monocoat to protect our wooden pieces.
STACKING
One of the key aspects of our products is their functionality, beyond traditional techniques we seek that our products are total design pieces. Some are designed to be stacked, it is always important that this process is carried out with precaution to avoid damage to the weave and finish.
Our Materials
STEEL
Our production process begins with the manufacturing of Steel frames. We use pipes and tubes tailormade for our requirements.
FRAMES
The bending and shaping of steel are done by hand. Shaped pieces are joined by welding using special matrixes to obtain the precision and consistency required for proper use of the product.
PAINTING
Frames are cleaned one by one and freed from imperfections to allow greater adhesion. A powder coat layer is applied to protect the frames.
SYNTHETIC WEAVE
Weaving is our specialty; we can manufacture weaves in different patterns, each with a style and a story. Our synthetic weave is made by 15 artisans. All of which had learned the technique at our workshop.
TUBULAR CORD
The tubular cord is the original material of the chairs of the Colombian Caribbean. Being hollow allows for an easier pattern weaving and producing a better grip and definition in the tie-up.
SOLID CORD
Being completely solid, this cord allows making unidirectional weaves.
ZERO WASTE
A quest for zero waste. After hand labor; plastic is the main material in the production of our pieces. Each chair, table, and object generates plastic waste which is never disposed of. This remaining plastic is recycled and reprocessed to create new plastic in a unique and original color blend. This is used to create our Zero Waste collection, pieces completely woven in recycled synthetic cords.
NATURAL WICKER
The wicker is selected by our weaver according to the type of chair, when weave is done, the resulting is subjected to fire eliminating imperfections and excesses. It is then waxed and sanded to prepare for painting. Painting is done with matt polyurethane for more durability.
GUINEO
Given its rustic nature, guineo fiber is not for everyone. The process is similar to that of wicker; it is woven, burned and waxed. The end result is a fibrous texture that gains softness and character with use.
CIENAGUERO CORD
Made from paper, the CIENAGUERO cord is a resistant and sustainable product. Known in the world of design as “danish paper cord” and frequently used by the most iconic Nordic chair designers.
WOOD
Our wood pieces and components are made from Moncoro, Oak, Acacia or Teak; depending on availability. Finishes are done with polyurethane or oil depending on requirements. All wood is obtained from legal sources.
